PARIS — A fire late Saturday ignited two propane tanks and destroyed a house on King Hill Road in Paris.

The Paris Fire Department was notified of the blaze at 8:47 p.m. When firefighters arrived at 20 King Hill Road, they found the 1½-story house and its two 100-gallon propane tanks were ablaze, according to Deputy Chief Brad Frost.

Due to the home’s location, firefighters had to haul water to the scene. The flames were brought under control about two hours later, Frost said.

There were no reports of injuries, and a pet guinea pig was rescued and reunited with the family.

Firefighters from Norway, Oxford and West Paris helped extinguish the flames, according to Frost.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation Monday by the Office of State Fire Marshal.
