The Lewiston Public Library plans to host the Center for Wildlife for a virtual presentation, “Nocturnal Animals Nature’s Nightshift,” at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, from the Center for Wildlife of Cape Neddick.

This free, public program will be hosted online through Zoom and simultaneously livestreamed to the library’s Facebook page. Online registration for the Zoom meeting information is required and can be found online at lplonline.org/natures-nightshift.

Many common questions about how and why nocturnal animals survive in the nighttime are to be answered. Attendants also have the opportunity to see such adaptations up close and ask questions of the Center for Wildlife educators.

The Center for Wildlife is located at the base of Mount Agamenticus in Cape Neddick, where for 33 years its facility has treated over 50,000 injured and orphaned wild animals and presented programming to thousands of community members annually.

The center serves the New England region, typically managing 2,000 patients each year — native wildlife injured because of vehicle collisions, domestic pets, pollution, fishing lines, oil spills, and other human-related causes — representing more than 190 species of birds, reptiles, and mammals.
