DAMARISCOTTA — “Land and Water Scapes,” a solo show by Sally Loughridge, is on display this month at the Central Lincoln County YMCA, 525 Main St.
“Maine’s ragged coastline continually stirs me to paint,” said South Bristol artist Sally Loughridge, in a news release from the artist. “The process of painting engages me deeply in nature.”
These paintings of land and water scapes are for sale through the artist; a portion of the proceeds benefits the YMCA.

For the artist, painting is a dynamic process involving entwined elements of observation, inspiration, mark-making, and creative expression. She said she hopes each resulting painting reflects her creative and emotional engagement with Maine’s aesthetic assets. Paintings in this show range from 8 inches by 10 inches to 18 inches by 36 inches.
After a Vermont career as a clinical psychologist, Loughridge moved in 1999 to Maine, where she has focused fully on art — creating, showing, and teaching. She paints primarily in oil and soft pastel.
In this past year of COVID-19 isolation, painting has helped her center on being resilient and hopeful. She exhibits widely on the Midcoast and has been in many solo, invitational, and juried shows.
The art show is open to the public from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Fridays, and from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
