OXFORD HILLS — Gardeners Growing Healthy Communities (GGHC) is proud to announce a donation of $1,450 from WJ Wheeler Insurance Company. Wheelers Insurance has been offering customized insurance and serving our community with pride since its inception in 1864. They have been a consistent annual supporter of GGHC since we began our gardens six years ago.

GGHC is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization that creates and maintains gardens to provide free, locally grown food to residents of Oxford County. Our volunteers currently maintain three gardens: the Rumford and South Paris gardens and the Maine Veterans’ Home garden. The harvest from the two town gardens, combined with donations from local farmers and backyard gardeners, are distributed directly to families and individuals each week during the growing season. Last summer the GGHC volunteers grew, gleaned and distributed over 11,000 pounds of produce that helped over 140 hungry families each week to eat better. Our volunteers love our gardens and passionately believe that our community is stronger when everyone has access to local, fresh fruits and vegetables.
