The Sandy River Ramblers bluegrass band is set to perform from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, on the Village Green in Belgrade.

The Ramblers, who have been playing since 1983, have two albums consisting entirely of songs about Maine, most of them written by guitarist Stan Keach, a bluegrass songwriter and member of the Maine Country Music Hall of Fame, according to a news release from the band.

The band is known for its vocal harmonies and for virtuoso picking on banjo, fiddle and mandolin.

The Ramblers include fiddler Brendan Hickey, a recent graduate of Berklee College of Music and a music teacher in his hometown of Farmington, bassist Julie Davenport, banjoist Jeff Folger and mandolinist Jeff Trippe. Liz Keach will add her harmonies to the mix.

The Village Green Concert Series is sponsored by Belgrade Parks and Recreation, and is free to the public. There are some park benches, but attendees are advised to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets.
