TURNER — State game wardens are investigating a ATV crash that critically injured a 10-year-old boy Monday afternoon.
The Turner resident was operating a Polaris 500 ATV with a helmet about 1 p.m. behind 55 Bean St. when he lost control of the machine and it rolled over him, Maine Warden Service spokesman Mark Latti said.
According to Latti, he was taken by LifeFlight to Maine Medical Center in Portland where he was listed in critical condition.
The initial investigation indicates lack of experience and lack of supervision as factors in the crash, Latti said.
NOTE: The story was changed to reflect that the boy was wearing a helmet.
