DEAR SUN SPOTS: Lisbon United Methodist Church is once again looking for runners and walkers to support their Annual Neighbors Helping Neighbors 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, Sept. 11, at 14 School St. in Lisbon Falls.

Check-in/same-day registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with the timed race starting at 8:30 a.m. Registration is open and all registrants entered by Sept. 1 will receive a T-shirt at check-in. After that date, shirts will be mailed or delivered to the participant.

Entry fee is $25 for adults and $15 for students, payable by check, cash or online at www.LisbonUMChurch.org. The benefit is open to all ages and will be held rain or shine. Free pre- and post-run massages will be provided on site by a local message therapist.

Help us help our neighbors. All proceeds will be donated to Tedford Shelter’s Warm Thy Neighbor heating assistance program. DEAR SUN SPOTS: The other day as I was driving down Sabattus Street my car muffler came loose. I managed to get into the parking lot at Sabattus and Russell Streets. I was trying to get help when a gentleman saw my dilemma. He proceeded to crawl under the car and wire up the muffler in two places and then directed me to First Choice Muffler up the street.

Within one hour the part was ordered, delivered and installed, thanks to the office manager. What could have been a bit of a nightmare was fixed with little inconvenience on my part. Thanks so much to Jamie D. for steering me to Dylan at First Choice Muffler. Together you saved the day for this old lady. — Christine, no town

ANSWER: That incident could have been quite a kerfuffle, but I’m so glad you were saved by this good Samaritan. I could write a book filled with these stories and just might one day. The good people of Sun Spots Land are out there doing their job!
