NORWAY — Following a short ceremony, approximately one thousand worn and faded American flags were disposed of by five members of Stone Smart American Legion Post #82 of Norway. The annual event occurs at the Norway Fire Station parking lot. Many of the flags had previously flown in cemeteries, where they decorated veterans’ graves. Other flags had been flown by individuals and in commercial locations throughout the area. If you have a worn flag you want disposed of honorably, contact the Post at 743-7294.
