BUCKFIELD — The Town Office will reopen Tuesday with temporary limited hours following its closure last week for a possible COVID-19 exposure.

Until further notice, the new office hours are Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m., and Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., said interim Town Manager Bradley Plante. The new hours are due to staffing issues and an abundance of caution with the increasing coronavirus numbers in Oxford County.

The town recommends that visitors to the Town Office wear masks, regardless of vaccination status.

The Town Office closed last Wednesday when a town employee reported COVID-like symptoms and reported being in close contact with someone who had tested positive for the disease.

That employee was immediately sent home and was tested for COVID-19. That test came back negative Friday, but because of the reported close contact with an infected individual, that employee is still required to quarantine.

The town has been in contact with the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention on the decision to close the office and the protocols for reopening.
