The Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce and Bates College will host a reception on Saturday to honor local businesses who support the performing arts. Joining them will be L/A Arts, Maine Music Society, the Public Theatre and Community Little Theater, who will express their appreciation to these business contributors. Chamber President Chip Morrison noted that when he moved to Auburn 20 years ago, this area was characterized as a cultural wasteland. “Today, nothing could be further from the truth. Lewiston is ranked in the 300 best small arts towns in America. Now we have a choice of cultural events to attend and sometimes we don’t have time to do them all.” The reception will be held at the Muskie Archives from 6-7:30 pm.
