To the Editor:

The 6th Annual Bethel Rotary 5K run/walk and 1-mile youth event was held both live and virtually and has been declared a huge success! All proceeds from the event are dedicated to supporting after-school and enrichment programming for Bethel area youth. The majority of the funds were raised through sponsorships and we would like to thank the following businesses and individuals for their generosity.

The Bethel Family Health Center has been our Presenting Sponsor every year and Rotary is so grateful for their support! Blair Industries has been our amenity gift sponsor, and the Glen House has been our prize sponsor. Congratulations to all the individuals who came to the live event for their great results! In the one-mile event, Abraham Crooker was the overall winner. In the 7-9 girls age group, Adelaide Luetje was first place and Hazel Redman was second. In the 7-9 boys age group, Abraham Crooker was first, and Charlie Luetje was second, and in the 10-12 girls age group, Isla DeCato was first place. Participating virtually in the one mile were the Strugatskiy Family: Kyr, Coburn, Tate, and Adelay.

In the adult 5K run, the overall winner was 14-year-old Ian Brown, 2nd went to Max Southam, and 3rd was Aurelio Flores. 1st overall female was Katy Crooker, 2nd was Kaitlyn Cyr and 3rd was Kristin Collins. Other finishers were Solei Lane, 1st place under 19; Francesco Campra, 3rd place under 19; Cody Smith, 1st place men’s 25-29; Lindsay Gardner, 1st place women’s 30-34; Aaron Osterhage, 1st place men’s 30-34; Amy Connell, 2nd place women’s 45-49; Roxanne Ames, 1st place women’s 50-54; Kris Anderson, 1st place men’s 50-54; Patricia McPherson, 1st place women’s 55-59; Julie Reiff, 2nd place women’s 55-59; David McPherson, 1st place men’s 55-59; George Ames 2nd place 55-59 and Kevin Finley, 3rd place 55-59; Bill White, 1st place men’s 60-64; Peter Rearick, 1st place men’s 65-69; 2nd place Charles Cavanaugh; and 3rd place Peter Kaurup. Our walkers were (in order of finish): Beatrice, Lucy, Jill, and Jason Rathbun; Bridget and Melinda Remington; Laura Allen, Richard Tummon, Beth Allen, and Constance Finley-Harrier.
