River Arts in Damariscotta invites photographers to submit work for its upcoming photo show, which is open to original photographic works.

The deadline for dropping off work at the gallery is 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16. Photographer Rose Marasco is the show’s juror.

The show is open to photographic works only. All work must be gallery ready and clean. Wall pieces should be wired securely with picture wire and screw eyes.

Artists can enter two pieces with a size limit of 26 inches (in any direction) including frame, or one larger piece with a size limit of 48 inches (in any direction) including frame. Diptychs are the only multiple-piece works allowed.

Works must be delivered in person. Entry and membership forms are available in the gallery or can be downloaded from riverartsme.org.

For members the entry fee is $15, and for nonmembers it is $25. All submitted works must be for sale, and River Arts retains 35% commission on sold works.

The accepted list will be emailed to all submitting artists by the afternoon of Wednesday, Oct. 20. Unaccepted works should be picked up promptly.

The show runs from Tuesday, Oct. 19 through Saturday, Nov. 20.

Marasco has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Syracuse University and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Visual Studies Workshop in Rochester, New York. She moved to Maine in 1979 to initiate and teach photography at the University of Southern Maine, where she is a Distinguished Professor Emerita.

Marasco continues to teach in several Master of Fine Arts programs and conducts workshops on creativity and photography. She is completing a book of photography and text, “At Home.” Before moving to Maine, Marasco initiated the photography program at Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute in Utica, New York.

Marasco has had 24 solo exhibitions, including ones at the Houston Center for Photography, Universite de Bretagne Occidentale, the Davis Museum & Cultural Center at Wellesley College, the Sarah Morthland Gallery and Meredith Ward Fine Art. Visit Marasco’s website at rosemarasco.com.
