Henry J. Cimon

AUBURN – Henry J. Cimon, 92, of Auburn passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family.

Henry’s life was a life well lived. He was born in Lowell, Mass., on Oct. 11, 1928. He was educated in the Lowell school system. Henry enlisted in the U.S Army during the Korean War. After serving his country honorably he returned home and worked at printing the daily news, first for The Waterville Sentinel and later for the Lowell Sun (Mass.) for nearly four decades until his retirement.

Nicknamed “Cy”, he was a talented softball and baseball pitcher, once scouted by the Braves baseball organization. He also excelled as a golfer, bowler and cribbage player, and at horseshoes and ping-pong, you name it, he was good at it.

Henry was an avid sports fan, enjoying the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics and most of all his beloved Bruins, a passion he passed on to his children.

He always had kind words of encouragement for his grandchildren. He was looked up to and admired by all as a man of few words, but those few words were certain to be ones of wisdom and insight, and meant to inspire. And surely they did.

Henry enjoyed traveling and visiting his children, as well as spending winters in Florida.

Henry is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Yvonne (Bartel); his brothers Morrill, Lionel and Robert, and his sisters Irene (Fournier), Cecile (Thomas), Loretta (DeCarolis) and Doris (Valois).

He is survived by his brother, Paul of Dracut, Mass. and his sister, Theresa of Lowell, Mass.

Henry leaves behind his loving wife, Fernande (Belanger) of Auburn who he met on a blind date 65 years ago; his son, Kenneth and his wife Doris of Tupelo, Miss., his four daughters, Sandra and her wife Susan of Ashland, Lucille Moore and her husband David of Chester, Va., Dorothy Jones and her husband William of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Celeste Nadeau and her husband Joseph of Lowell, Mass.; as well as 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for all of the thoughtful, loving support we received from the Androscoggin Home Health Care and Hospice. Thank you Sheila and Michelle especially.

Visitation will be held at the Albert and Burpee Funeral Home, on Monday, Oct. 4, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a Liturgy of the Word Service at 1 p.m. Services will conclude with committal prayers and military honors graveside at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
