FRYEBURG — A Connecticut man was charged Wednesday in the murder of a Connecticut man found stabbed to death at the the local fairgrounds on Main Street, authorities said.

Carlos A. Negron, 46, of Hartford, Connecticut, was arrested around noon by detectives from the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit-South in the death of Anderson Gomes, 28, of Waterbury, Connecticut, according to a media statement by Maine Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Katharine England.
Negron was taken to the Oxford County Jail in Paris and charged with murder, England wrote in a subsequent media statement.
Negron and Gomes were known to each other, she said.
Dispatchers for the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from 1154 Main St. shortly after 1 a.m. reporting a male had been stabbed and was unresponsive. Local police and officers from the Conway, New Hampshire, Police Department responded and discovered a deceased male on the fairgrounds next the restroom facilities, England wrote.
Shortly before 1:30 a.m., county dispatchers notified the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit-South, which went to the scene, as well as the Maine State Police Evidence Response Team, England wrote. Detectives identified witnesses and persons of interest in connection to the incident and conducted interviews and collected evidence, England wrote.
Crime scene technicians and analysts were expected to be at the fairgrounds into Wednesday evening.
The Office of Chief Medical Examiner is expected to conduct an autopsy on Anderson in the coming days, England wrote.
Authorities are confident there is no ongoing risk to public safety, England wrote.
