50 Years Ago: 1971

Thursday, Friday and Saturday, will see the furnishings of the YWCA’s Pine Street Lewiston residence go up for public sale as the YWCA moves out of the building. Mrs. John Beale, president, and Mrs. Gridley Barrows and Mrs. Luther Abbott of the finance committee have been sorting through old records and moving from there is a bit nostalgic. The YWCA has occupied part of the Pine Street building since 1892. This move will take the YWCA out of the Pine Street headquarters and after Nov.1, it will be located at Kate J. Anthony House, 268 Turner St. Auburn. The swimming pool and facilities will be located In the new building on East Avenue, Lewiston. The sale of furnishings in the old building will be held each day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Thursday and Friday will also be held from 6 to 8 p.m.

25 Years Ago: 1996

The Rumford High School Class of 1977 will hold the first meeting to plan its 20th reunion on Monday, at 7 p.m. at the Mexico Chicken Coop Restaurant.
