Colette Noella Bussiere Martin

AUBURN – Colette Noella Bussiere Martin of Lewiston died at the age of 92 with family present on Oct. 12, 2021, at Bolster Heights, Auburn, Maine. She was born in Lewiston on Nov. 10, 1928, the daughter of Augustine Bilodeau and Louis Bussiere.

She was educated locally in Catholic schools, then worked in the mills to help support her family after the early death of her father. She married Marcel E. Martin on July 25, 1952, and had four children, two sons, and two daughters, who she loved dearly. She dedicated over 25 years as a CNA lovingly caring for patients living at The Marcotte Home/D’Youville Pavilion, Lewiston. After retirement, she and Marcel enjoyed travel and the care of her beloved grandchildren. Family was always most important to her.

Colette enjoyed family time, caring for her dogs Brownie and Sandy, going to special places with grandchildren such as sporting events, movies, the Balloon Festival, and family parties at Rachel’s pool. Colette and Marcel enjoyed traveling in the US, Europe, and Disney World. She loved life and wasn’t afraid to do things like tubing or riding the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney World over and over. She also enjoyed crocheting, macrame’ chairs, puzzles, and reading. She enjoyed scenic car rides around Maine, coffee ice cream, and her favorite Oreo cookies right to the very end.

She leaves a son, Robert Martin and his wife Sharon of Turner, James Martin and his wife Jennifer of Sabattus, daughter Rachel Talarico of Lewiston, son-in-law Jeff Barrell of Auburn; 10 grandchildren, Jessica Cloutier, Sarah Fikus, Benjamin Martin, Leah McNear, Joshua Martin, Jenessa Talarico, Krista Barrell, Kasey Talarico, Jayson Martin, and Jacob Barrell; 11 great-grandchildren; her cousin/sister-in-law Irene Martin; her godchild Nancy Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband Marcel; daughter Diane Barrell, son-in-law Tony Talarico; brother Henry Bussiere and sister Bertha Johansen.

A Memorial Mass honoring Colette’s life will be celebrated on Monday, Oct. 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Church. Committal services will then follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery. A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021 from 2-6 p.m. at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway in Lewiston, 784-4023.
