Roger Edward Millett

LEWISTON – Roger Edward Millett, 93, of Turner, passed away on Oct. 7, 2021. Roger was born April 2, 1928, the son of Bertram and Elva Millett of East Waterford.At a young age, Roger enjoyed hunting, when not working the land for local farmers or winter roads for the Town of Waterford. Roger served in the army during World War II. In 1953, Roger met and married, Helen Stewart, sharing 68 years together at their family farm in Turner. Roger’s strong work ethic and respect for animals carried over into his lifelong career as a milk hauler. Roger hauled milk from local farmers to H.P. Hood (Agri Mark) for over 42 years. Neighbors have stated they could set their clocks by his comings and goings. When not hauling milk, Roger would be tending animals, fields, plowing, gardening, and harvesting wood into his 90s. He often took Helen for long drives enjoying the countryside and frequently partaking in a community bean dinner along the way. Roger could often be found tinkering on and operating his vintage tractor(s). His family and his farm brought him great enjoyment. Roger is survived by his wife, Helen Millett of Turner; his son, Ronald Millett of Farmington, daughters Diane and her husband, John Dunn of Turner, Terry and her husband, Charles Vickerson of Turner, Julie, and her husband, Randy Hausman of Turner; grandchildren Christopher Millett, Erin Dunn-Kimball, Anthony Fusillo, Jessica Vickerson, Kyle Hausman, Justin Hausman, Ryan Hausman; and five great-grandchildren.Predeceased by his parents; his sister, Leatrice Record; granddaughter, Allyson Dunn; nephew, Douglas Record; and brother in-law, Edwin Record.On line condolences can be shared at http://www.thefortingroupauburn.com. A graveside service will be celebrated on Sunday Oct. 24 at 11 a.m. at Turner Village Cemetery. Remembrance gathering will be held at the family home from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. following the graveside service.
