LIVERMORE — Spooks, scares and more await at the Halloween Haunted Trail of Livermore, 97 River Road, the residence of Merry and Jeff St. Pierre.

The trail will be open the next two Fridays and Saturdays from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Halloween night the hours are 6 to 9 p.m. A Halloween day walk will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, with a less spooky session available for younger children from 4 to 6 p.m. that evening.

The cost is $15 per person. Proceeds will support Spruce Mountain scholarships, All Sports Boosters and the local food pantry.

“The trail is longer than it has ever been,” Merry said Saturday, Oct. 16. There are three new expansions that include haunts, scares and themes that are also new, she said.

Strobe lights, fearful sounds and fog machines add to the terror.

“There’s tons of new stuff,” Merry said. “People won’t be disappointed!”

COVID-19 protocols will be in place, she said. Hand sanitizers will be at the front and instead of lines, numbers will be given out and called when the next group can proceed, she noted. “There will be no touching this year,” Merry stated.

The Halloween Haunted Trail of Livermore started several years ago when Merry’s daughters needed to raise money for the Spruce Mountain High School field hockey team. She suggested hosting a Halloween-themed event at her home. Every year since, the trail has grown with new volunteers stepping up to help.

Numerous costumes, masks and thousands of dollars worth of decorations lend authenticity to the trail. Tombstones, tons of lights and many tiki torches add to the frights.
