Lottie Fannie Autry

LEWISTON – Lottie Fannie Autry, 97, a resident of Leeds, passed away Monday, Oct. 25, 2021, at Montello Manor in Lewiston. She was born August 19, 1924, in Flagstaff, Maine, the daughter of Merton Fletcher Crymble and Lettie (Eames) Crymble.

She graduated from high school in Stratton/Eustis. After graduation she moved to Portland, where she worked during the War and where she met her future husband at the local U.S.O. On Jan. 29, 1946, she married Henry Curtis Autry. After their marriage, they settled in Leeds to raise a family. Once her family was grown, Lottie decided to return to school to brush up on her office skills. She worked in payroll for a prominent Bank in the area for several years, until her retirement.

Through the years, she was first and foremost a devoted Mother, Grandmother (at which time she acquired her new name ‘Grammy Treetop’), and Great Grandmother. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, baking, painting, sketching, sculpting, sewing, and hugging.

Lottie is survived by her children, Wayne Autry of Turner, Richard “Dick” Autry of Leeds, Martha Bania and husband Stephen of Leeds; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her dearest friend since grammar school, Gladys Rogers; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; husband Curtis, siblings Charles Crymble, Lora Crymble, Inez (Crymble) Kennedy and husband Raymond, Erma (Crymble) Bailey and husband Walter, and Margaret (Crymble) Berrier and husband Arthur. At Lottie’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. The family plans to honor her memory with a pontoon ride around Flagstaff Lake next summer; stopping for a final farewell at what remains of the Morgan Farm, her childhood home for (in her words) “the happiest 13 years of my life.”

Arrangements by BRAGDON-FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 707 Main Street, Monmouth, Maine.
