100 Years Ago: 1921

Five dollars and costs for intoxication was the only sentence In the Lewiston Municipal court Friday morning. The respondent couldn’t pay so he was taken to the county jail, where he will receive board and room for a few weeks.

50 Years Ago: 1971

At an open house meeting at Montello Junior High School last evening in conjunction with American Education Week, Principal Robert Connor told parents that a new program of individually scheduling students is a success. At the session, the parents decided to reactivate the Parent Teacher Association which had been curtailed last year.

25 Years Ago: 1996

Senate candidate Susan Collins made a stop at Marden’s Discount Store on Main Street Friday, greeting supporters and voters on a whirlwind campaign tour aboard the “Collins Express.”  With Collins was Sue Stricker, state senate candidate and State Senator Georgette Berube.
