WILTON — The Town of Wilton Board of Appeals will meet Wednesday, Nov. 10, for an administrative hearing on Wilson Lake Marina, which had applied in March to install temporary docks on Wilson Lake at 10 Rowell Street.

The Planning Board denied Wilson Lake Marina’s application Aug. 26 following a lengthy process including: a proposed moratorium on commercial development on Wilson Lake (which was denied by the Select Board); two amendments to the town’s zoning ordinance (approved at the June Town Meeting) that directly impacted the project; and a lawsuit filed against the Town of Wilton on behalf of Wilson Lake Marina and its property owners, including James Butler.

Following the application denial, Wilson Lake Marina’s legal representation filed an appeal application on Sept. 22. In the application, attorney Kendall Ricker requests the appeal for the “bias,” “bad faith” and “ex-parte communications” that led to the denial of the original application.

There has been much contention between the planning board and the owners of Wilson Lake Marina in multiple meetings to discuss and review Wilson Lake Marina’s application.

Residents of the town that have spoken at planning board meetings and the town meeting are largely against the development of the commercial temporary dock system because of potential environmental and visual impacts on the lake.

Butler and his representatives from Boothby, Silver & Ricker Attorneys at Law and Main-Land Development Consultants have claimed that they have been denied “due process,” directly targeted with the zoning amendments and treated unfairly.
