AUGUSTA — A city man faces several charges after he allegedly assaulted a woman who was giving him a ride and attempted to steer her vehicle off the road by grabbing the wheel, police said.

Christopher M. Good, 55, was getting a ride home from a 39-year-old Augusta woman who works for the mental health agency Motivational Services on Thursday around 10:30 a.m. when he attempted “to take advantage of her in a sexual manner,” Augusta police Lt. Chris Massey said. Good then assaulted her and tried to crash the vehicle, he said.

Massey said Good also took some of her personal items during the incident, which took place on Mount Vernon Avenue.

Good was charged with assault, unlawful sexual touching, obstructing the report of a crime, theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, disorderly conduct, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon and terrorizing, according to police records.

Massey said the reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon charge stems from allegations that Good grabbed the steering wheel of the vehicle and attempted to steer it off the road.

The woman was taken to the hospital by ambulance following the assault, although the nature and severity of her injuries was not immediately available by police on Friday.
