DEAR SUN SPOTS: Where can I find someone who repairs and sells manual typewriters? — No name, no town

ANSWER: Cosco Technologies (377-2897) at 50 Bearce Road in Winthrop is where you want to take your typewriter for repair and to inquire about restored oldies but goodies. They have a Facebook page with information and you can email the business at coscotech1@yahoo.com. I’ve seen their work and it’s impressive.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: A friend graduated from Fryeburg Academy and she told me it’s a private school that is also the local public school. I don’t get it. Can you explain why this is? — Vanessa, no town

ANSWER: The short answer is that Fryeburg Academy is a private, independent school serving students in grades 9-12 (and one post-graduate year) from around the world. However, if you are a resident within School Administrative District 72 or an Albany Township or Chatham, New Hampshire, resident, you can be a student at the Academy tuition-free. It’s an amazing institution, and if you want to know more check out its website, which explains its history and more at https://www.fryeburgacademy.org/.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Another means of getting rid of rust stains (Nov. 16 Sun Spots) is to use a very fine emery paper, 400 grit or higher, along with your cleaning agent. The fine grit of this paper won’t hurt the porcelain and will ease the scrubbing process. I’ve used it and it works well. — Cal, Litchfield

ANSWER: Excellent advice, Cal. You are always on top of things and I appreciate that you are such a devoted reader. Thank you!
