The Maine Educational Opportunity Center plans to host free individualized sessions, “Essentials of College Planning” and “Financial Aid,” for adults 19 and older looking for a new career or returning to higher education.

The virtual and in-person sessions are scheduled for the following dates and times:

Virtual

• Monday, Dec. 6, at 9 and 10 a.m.

• Wednesday, Dec. 8, at 9 and 10 a.m., and 6 and 7 p.m.

• Friday, Dec. 10, at 9 and 10 a.m.

• Monday, Dec. 13, at 9 and 10 a.m.

• Wednesday, Dec. 15, at 9 and 10 a.m.

• Friday, Dec. 17, at 9 and 10 a.m.

In person at Lewiston UMA, 51 Westminster St.

• Thursday, Dec. 16, at 10 and 11 a.m., and noon and 1 p.m.

The center is funded entirely by the U.S. Department of Education. The program helps qualified adults make the transition towards a new career and relevant educational credentials. The staff provides individualized assistance in career planning, stackable credentials, completion of FAFSA, rehabilitation of defaulted loans, and finding the appropriate funding for one’s education.

The session lasts approximately an hour. Registration is encouraged.

All services provided by MEOC are free. If these times don’t fit a schedule, people can contact the center to explore options. All sessions are subject to change.
