100 Years Ago: 1921

William Ernest Young and Miss Helen Edna Murray, both of Lewiston, were winners again in their class prize speaking contest, Saturday afternoon. These two students won the prizes of their class last year as well.

50 Years Ago: 1971

Mrs. Gary Cadman is general chairman of the Holiday Fair being held by the Rosary Sodality of St. Patrick’s parish on December 4. The fair will be held in the parish hall between 9:30 and seven o’clock Saturday evening. Hot and cold snacks will be sold during the day. There will be tables of home cooked foods and candy, many hand crafted gifts, novelties, the popular “white elephant” table and a fish pond for the children. An artist will cut silhouettes during the day and her husband will be on hand to frame them upon request.

25 Years Ago: 1996

In honor of National Home Care Month and its 30th anniversary, Androscoggin Home Health Services is inviting the public to celebrate by attending this year’s annual meeting Thursday at 3 p.m. at Lewiston-Auburn College. The featured speaker will be Ilana Rubenfeld, a pioneer and master teacher in the art of healing which encompasses mind, body and spirit. With wit and humor, Rubenfeld will lead participants in exercapes for self-care; healing the body, mind and spirit; and helping contact a sense of humor. Rubenfeld is president of the Rubenfeld Center Inc. and originator of the Rubenfeld Synergy Method. She has led many workshops worldwide and is the author of numerous books and articles. Rubenfeld teaches at New York University and at growth centers nationally, including the Esalen Institute, Omega and the New York Open Center.
