Anna Louise Smith

SCARBOROUGH – Anna Louise Smith, 94, formerly of Leeds, passed away Sunday, Nov. 28, 2021 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. She was born August 12, 1927, in Saugus, Mass., the daughter of Stanley Bryant and Ruth (Lovewell) Bryant.

Anna was a 1945 graduate of Leavitt Institute in Turner. On Oct. 26, 1946, in Leeds, she married Bruce L. Smith. They enjoyed 46 years together before his passing Dec. 20, 1992.

Anna worked as a teacher at Greene Central School and with Head Start. She was a member of the Leeds Community Church, enjoyed braiding rugs, upholstering furniture, and gardening. She will also be remembered as a fantastic seamstress and the woman who rebuilt her home while at the same time, raising eight children.

She is survived by her children, Arthur Smith and wife Tracy of Turner, Phillip Smith and wife SueAnn of Gorham, Margaret Dickson of Auburn and daughter-in-law Laura Briggs of Wayne; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her sister, Edna Twitchell of Turner; nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; sons, Bruce, Stanley and Mark and William Smith, daughter, Dorothy A. Smith; and sisters, Nancy Trider and Katherine McNear.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at the home of Phillip and SueAnn Smith, 10 Alexander Drive, Gorham Maine. They respectfully ask that attendees be fully vaccinated for Covid-19.
