AUBURN – Beatrice Eva Gilbert, 86, passed away Monday, Nov. 22, 2021, at Schooner Memory Center. She was born Beatrice Eva Daigle on Feb. 25, 1935, in Soldier Pond, Maine to Lionel and Aurelia (Saucier) Daigle.Bea was raised in Lewiston, attended Lewiston schools, and graduated from Saint Dominic High School in 1953. Beatrice married Lucien C. Gilbert on June 28, 1958. Together they moved to California, raised four children, and ultimately returned to Maine as so many do. She had an active career from Bates Mill, Norm Roy Realty, School Lunch Programs, Medical Billing and worked at Pine Street Café which she and her husband owned and operated.She was a member of Saint Joseph’s Church where she sang in the choir as well as Prince of Peace Parish. She served on the Alumni Reunion Committee for Saint Dominic’s High School and an avid supporter of the France American Heritage Center.Bea will lovingly be remembered for her laughter, winning smile, and seeing things with a glass half full positive attitude. Things that gave her joy were family, friends, co-workers, music, playing piano, church, and devotion to her Lord.Beatrice was predeceased by her brothers Harold and Nelson Daigle, husband Lucien and son John Gilbert. She leaves behind her daughter Diane (Gilbert) Moreau and husband David, son Marc and wife Guat Yew Gilbert, son Denis Gilbert and daughter-in-law Barbara Gilbert. Also, her nine grandchildren, Jennifer and husband Rory, Joshua, Maryke, Martin, Alex, Jessica, Kathryn, Justin and Bryan. In addition, four great-grandchildren, Lauren, Weston, Evan and Rowan. The family wishes to thank Schooner and Androscoggin Health and Hospice for the exceptional care given to “Miss Bea”. Your kindness shall never be forgotten. Visitation will be held 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7 at the Fortin Funeral Group, 70 Horton Street, Lewiston.
