HAMPDEN — Undefeated Oxford Hills (5-0) had a big third quarter and Sierra Carson scored 18 points to lead the Vikings to a 52-41 girls basketball victory over Hampden Academy (4-1) on Thursday.

Oxford Hills outscored Hampden 15-3 in the third, turning a 30-28 halftime deficit into a 43-33 lead.

Chloe Estes helped out with 13 points for the Vikings. Molly Corbett hit a pair of 3-pointers and finished with nine points.

Bella McLaughlin threw in a game-high 21 points for the Broncos.

WINDHAM 44, EDWARD LITTLE 38: Sarah Talon scored a game-high 23 points and Carly Morey had 10 as the Eagles (3-2) shook off the Red Eddies (0-4) in Auburn.

Windham took a 26-24 lead at halftime before scoring another 18 points in the second half.

Erin Cowie led Edward Little with 11 points. Rachel Penney hit two 3-pointers and scored eight points, and Nikki Clark added seven.

CHEVERUS 44, LEWISTON 42: The Stags (5-0) held on to beat the Blue Devils (2-3) in Lewiston.

Cheverus’ Emma Lizotte scored 18 to lead all scorers and was aided by 10 points from Maeve Kelly.

Lewiston trailed 35-27 after three quarters but stormed back in the fourth quarter with help of Masya Way, who scored six of her 10 points in the period. Ellie Legare led Lewiston with 13 points, while Natalie Beaudoin tacked on 10 points and Koral Morin had nine.

MT. BLUE 54, NOKOMIS 39: Eva Stevens scored 14 points and Hannah Wilbur added 11 as the Cougars (1-4) earned their first victory of the season by defeating the Warriors (0-4) in Farmington.

Mt. Blue took control early, and by halftime held a 27-12 lead. Kara Daggett and Katelyn Daggett each contributed eight points to the win.

Nokomis’ Bri Townsend threw in a game-high 24 points and went 7-for-10 from the free-throw line.

OAK HILL 45, MONMOUTH 38: Three double-digit scorers paced the Raiders (1-3) past the Mustangs (2-2) for their first win of the season at Wales.

Emily Dillman drained a pair of 3-pointers and led Oak Hill with 13 points. Briana Dumais made three 3s and finished with 12 points, and Paige Gonya contributed 10.

Monmouth’s Holly Hunt scored a game-high 19 points, including four 3s. Alexa Allen added eight points.

BOYS BASKETBALL
DIRIGO 47, MONMOUTH 46: Charlie Houghton dropped in a game-high 20 points and went 3-for-3 at the free-throw line to help the Cougars (3-1) hand the Mustangs (4-1) their first loss of the season in a close game in Dixfield.

Dirigo held a 36-30 lead after three quarters, but Monmouth closed in during the fourth quarter. Hayden Fletcher led the Mustangs with 13 points, including nine in the final period, while Sammy Calder scored 10 points and Manny Calder finished with eight.

Dakota Tompkins contributed eight points for the Cougars.

LEAVITT 49, WATERVILLE 36: Degan Jordan provided a spark off the bench and the Hornets’ (4-1) defense clamped down in the second half to earn a road win over the Panthers (0-4) in Waterville.
Jordan scored a game-high 11 points, while also grabbing four rebounds and making four steals.

Five players scored for Leavitt in the opening quarter — foreshadowing its balanced attack throughout the game — as the Hornets jumped out to a 14-7 lead.

Waterville responded with 16 points, powered by four 3-pointers, in the second quarter to cut Leavitt’s lead to 24-23 by halftime. The Panthers, though, were limited to 13 points after halftime, including only four in the fourth period.

Leavitt, meanwhile, started to pull away with 16 points in the third quarter, during which Sawyer Hathaway tallied seven of his eight points.

Hathaway also had six rebounds and four steals in the game. Hunter Hayes contributed nine points, 11 boards and five assists, and Ben Sirois scored eight points.

Ethan Hobart was Waterville’s leading scorer with 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Dustan Hunter (eight points) and Logan Tardif (six) also hit two treys apiece for the Panthers.

EDWARD LITTLE 63, WINDHAM 31: Pat Anthoine scored 13 points, Marshal Adams and John Shea each added 12, and the Red Eddies (4-1) cruised past the Eagles (1-4) at Windham.

Nick Garrison paced Windham with 12 points.

BOYS HOCKEY
EDWARD LITTLE 6, SCARBOROUGH 0: Campbell Cassidy scored twice and assisted on two goals for the Red Eddies (4-0) in a shutout win over the Red Storm (2-2) at USM Ice Arena.

Jack Keefe, Tate Morse (two assists), Trey Coulombe and Gavin Levesque added a goal apiece. Cassidy, Jack Keefe and Brody Keefe each finished with one assist.

Edward Little outshot Scarborough 29-17. Red Eddies goalie Gage Ducharme stopped all 17 shots he faced. Scarborough’s Keegan Weed finished with 23 saves.

GIRLS HOCKEY
MT. ARARAT/LISBON/MORSE/LINCOLN  7, GORHAM/BONNY EAGLE/MASSABESIC/WESTBROOK/FRYEBURG 0: Mallory Stuart scored two goals and set up another for Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse/Lincoln Academy (6-3) in a win over Gorham/Bonny Eagle/Massabesic/Westbrook/Fryeburg (2-3) at USM Ice Arena.

Sarah Moore and Megan Reed also recorded two goals, Marley LeBel added a goal and assist, and Megan Reed and Alex Durant each got an assist.

Sadie Dyer made 38 saves for Gorham.
