JAY — Jill Gingras has been on the job four months and is enjoying her new position as the town’s financial director and treasurer.

“I love being back in the town,” she said, working at the town office.

The Jay woman is not new to the office. She worked there until 2011 when her position was eliminated.

Gingras went back to school and graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington in 2016 with a double major in creative writing and visual arts.

She started work for the town previously as the deputy clerk and worked with Ronda Palmer, the town clerk and office manager, and Lori Shink, deputy tax collector. She did the payroll. She worked alongside now-retired treasurers Linda Brundage and Lisa Bryant, who also held the financial director position. Bryant retired Aug. 27 after 24 years with the town.

Prior to rejoining the town, Gingras had been working as a legislative technician in the Maine State Legislature’s Office of the Revisor of Statutes in Augusta.

“I really loved the job,” she said. She worked on formatting legal documents for legislative requests, which is at the developmental stage of creating a bill before it goes before the legislative body.

Gingras started full-time in her new position Aug. 30.

“I am really enjoying the job,” she said. “I am settling in well.”
