LEWISTON — The new year barely got a chance to look around before the birth of Grace-Glow Star Whitney early Saturday.

St. Mary’s Health System said it was overjoyed to announce her arrival at St. Mary’s at 12:36 a.m.

“Grace-Glow is a gift to the world and a dream come true, and she entered the world right on New Year’s Day,” said Grace-Glow’s mother, Destinie Brown.

Whitney weighed in at 6 pounds, 12 ounces, and was 19.7 inches long.

There were at least two other babies born in Maine shortly after Whitney.

Jesse Dodge IV entered the world at 1:29 a.m. at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, WABI reported. Parents Jamie Maroon and Jesse Dodge III of Fairfield have a healthy baby who weighed in at 8 pounds, 3 ounces and 21 inches in length.

A bit later, at 2:08 a.m., Hannah and Payton Nichols welcomed their new daughter Bailey at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, their hometown, according to WABI. She weighed 7 pounds and was 19.2 inches long.
