Peggy Rotundo, a former state senator and state representative, is running for Senate District 21, which covers all of Lewiston.

Having met Peggy Rotundo when she was on the Lewiston School Committee, I found her a good role model for my children. As I got to know my neighbor, I often would hear her say her mother was her role model, and also Frances Perkins.

Frances Perkins was the first woman U.S. secretary of labor, who championed Social Security (that’s why we have Social Security today) and labor laws.

Rotundo worked tirelessly for the working people of Lewiston and Maine to improve our lives. As a frugal woman, she knows how to stretch a dollar. Our tax dollars were well spent with her on the Appropriations Committee. During her time in the Maine Legislature, she brought people together.

I thank Peggy Rotundo for running again for the state Senate.
