AUBURN — Parking bans were declared Monday by communities in Androscoggin County ahead of a storm system going through the area through Tuesday.

The forecast from the National Weather Service in Gray predicts a 30% chance of freezing rain Monday night, eventually giving way to snow Tuesday morning and then back to a mix of rain and snow by the afternoon.

A parking ban in the city of Auburn was to be in effect on Tuesday, deputy police Chief Tim Cougle said in a statement Monday, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., with the exception of the Downtown Parking District, which will be exempted from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., Cougle said.

On its website, the city of Lewiston also announced a parking ban, beginning at 7 p.m. Monday until 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The town of Lisbon issued a parking ban effective from 5 p.m. Monday to 7 p.m. Tuesday, according to its website.

A possible snow accumulation of 1 to 4 inches was expected by end of the day Tuesday.
