Confident, intelligent, eager to please…these are just a few words to describe Flare. Flare is a young, male Rottweiler with so many of the qualities that Rottie owners love – he’s a strong, smart, and powerful dog with some youthful exuberance and boyish charm mixed in. Flare is looking for a confident leader.

He knows several basic commands, seems like he will be highly trainable, and also seems to be house trained. He loves to run around our play yard with a favorite ball. Like most things in life, there is a catch.

Flare will sometimes guard items that he really wants (food, toys, other objects such as trash – called “resource guarding”) and will require an experienced owner who is familiar with working and living with a dog that is a resource guarder.

We are seeking an adult home who has experience with Rottweilers and experience with resource guarding. Flare will not be adopted to a home with children or other pets. We will be looking for the best fit for a successful adoption.

Responsible Pet Care of Oxford Hills is a no-kill, non-profit shelter and adoption center for cats and dogs, and the holding area for stray dogs for 12 towns in Oxford County. The shelter is located at 9 Swallow Road in Paris.

Responsible Pet Care operates a thrift shop called Pawsibilities. It is located at 132 Waterford Road in Norway and is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Donations of clean, usable household items are accepted during shop hours.
