Led by a trio of event winners, Poland placed second in the boys team standings at the Western Maine Conference indoor track championships at University of Southern Maine in Gorham on Friday.

For the Knights, Cadyn Langlois took first in the open long jump with a leap of 20 feet, 0.5 inches; Domenic Antonelli won the open 800-meter run (2:05.17); and Nolan Garey finished first in the senior 55-meter hurdles (8.44 seconds).

Those showings accounted for 30 of Poland’s 83 points as a team. Conference champion York dominated with 161.5 points.

Gray-New Gloucester was fourth with 56 points, one point ahead of fifth-place Cape Elizabeth. The Patriots got event wins from Thomas Ladd (junior 400), Preston Gerry (junior high jump) and Phil Soule (junior shot put).

St. Dominic Academy was seventh, with 41 points, paced by runner-up finishes from Emmett Mooney (senior 200) and Aidan Laviolette (senior 400).

The York girls also had a resounding team win, amassing 167 points to runner-up Freeport’s 90.

St. Dom’s was fifth, with 48 points, led by Kiana Goldberg (first in long jump, second in 55 hurdles and 200 dash) and Autumn Gerry (first in senior high jump, third in long jump.

Gray-New Gloucester was two points behind in sixth, with standout performances in senior shot put (Lorenza Piper, Emma Hutchings and Alexis Hutchings go 1-2-3), junior shot put (Maisie Lerette in first) and the junior 4×200 relay (first place).

Poland placed ninth, with 29 points. Autumn Demelia was second in the junior 400 and Ellen Marquis-Boutin in the senior 55 and 200 dashes.

KVAC CLASS B CHAMPIONSHIPS: The Leavitt boys were narrow runner-ups to Winslow in the team competition at Bowdoin College in Brunswick.

The Hornets compiled 98 points as a team, four behind the Black Raiders.

Stephen Pierre picked up three event wins for Leavitt (55-meter hurdles, high jump, long jump), and Jonathan Schomaker won the wheelchair 800, wheelchair mile and wheelchair shot put.

On the girls side, Leavitt (31.5 points) finished sixth behind champion Cony.

Serae Fish placed third in the high jump, and the Hornets’ 4×200 relay team also took third.

NYA 4, BERWICK 3: Nathanel Peretz’s hat trick paced the Panthers past the Bulldogs at Travis Roy Arena in Yarmouth.

Former Lewiston standouts — and twins — Cooper and Daxton St. Hilaire notched two points apiece. They both assisted on Peretz’s opening goal, Cooper scored a goal of his own in the second period, and Daxton and fellow former Blue Devils Michael Belleau assisted on Peretz’s final goal in the third.
