LOVELL — Voters will consider 80 articles at the annual Town Meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Lovell Town Hall.

The proposed municipal budget of about $1.5 million is $400,000 more than the $1.1 million for the previous year. If approved, it will require raising about $128,900 more in taxes.

This year’s tax rate will be determined once the total budget is established.

One question on the warrant is whether to allow the Select Board to spend federal coronavirus relief funds as it sees fit.

Other articles include:

• Whether to take $4,535 from surplus to cover overdrafts in the athletic fields, beaches and landings, Planning Board and other accounts.

• Whether to purchase books for the New Suncook School Library using $6,048.07 in the school fund.

• Whether the town should raise $44,000 as requested for the care and maintenance of town buildings and grounds.

• Whether to spend $121,000 for maintenance and operation of the town tennis courts and waste facilities, and $56,000 for the C.E. Hobbs and Lewis Dana Hill Memorial libraries.

The Lovell Volunteer Fire Co. has requested $81,649 for the Fire Protection Operating Account, as well as $12,500 for the new truck fund.

“Costs keep rising and we are trying to do our best to control the town budget while still providing everyone with the services that they expect,” according to a statement in the recent Select Board report. “We all recognize how special Lovell is and we need to all work together in order to keep Lovell growing and to guide it toward the future.”

In town elections, voters will choose a Select Board member for three years, a Planning Board member for five years and two associate members for one year each, two Budget Committee members for seven years, and an alternate to the Maine School Administrative District 72 board for one year.
