WEST PARIS — The driver of a tractor-trailer filled with bags of fertilizer escaped injury early Wednesday morning when his truck overturned on state Route 219.

The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident at 92 Sumner Road, which is also Route 219, at 4:15 a.m. and found the tractor-trailer on its side and the driver, Mark Walton of Hartford, safely out of the vehicle, said Chief Deputy James Urquhart.

Walton told deputies he was driving west on Route 219 and attempted to move over for oncoming traffic, but his wheels went too far onto the shoulder, Urquhart said. The truck went off the road and rolled onto its side.

The tractor-trailer is owned by Hall Trucking LLC from Errol, New Hampshire.

After being down to one lane for several hours to remove the vehicle, Route 219 reopened later Wednesday morning, Urquhart said.
