Maine has awarded $5 million in grants to more than 380 small businesses across the state through the Maine Jobs & Recovery Small Business Grant Program, Gov. Janet Mills’ administration said Thursday.

The program, launched last November, provides assistance to small businesses still dealing with the financial toll of the coronavirus pandemic, Mills’ office said.

The state Department of Economic and Community Development notified 382 small businesses and nonprofits that they will receive awards of up to $50,000 each, it said in a news release.

The recovery grants, which average $12,700, will help reimburse businesses for pandemic-related costs such as supply chain disruptions and infrastructure improvements, it said. The grants stem from the governor’s Maine Jobs and Recovery Plan, which is funded through the American Rescue Plan Act and was passed by the Maine Legislature.
