Irene V. Hafford
LEEDS – Irene V. Hafford, 79, a resident of Leeds, passed away on Monday, Feb. 28, 2022, at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born on Dec. 11, 1942, in Avon, one of 15 children to Walter J. Bachelder, Sr. and Vilda F. (Moody) Bachelder.
Irene attended schools in Phillips and Auburn. On Jan. 31, 1959, she married Peter D. Hafford. They shared 24 years together raising their family in Leeds, until his passing on Oct. 2, 1983. After Pete’s passing, she made a wonderful life with Brad Hatch until his passing in 2007.
Throughout the years Irene worked at many jobs including the Heritage Nursing Home, Hallowell Shoe, Livermore Shoe, and retiring from Albarrie Technical Fabrics. She loved spending time with family, visiting with friends, playing cards, gardening and reading. Irene was a faithful member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses Monmouth Congregation. Her family remembers her as a kind, compassionate, caring, hardworking, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and a loyal friend.
Irene is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Leet of Lewiston, four sons, Darrell Hafford and wife Jeannette of Hermon, Darren Hafford and wife Jessica of Turner, Herbert Hafford of Leeds and Peter Hafford and companion Jammie of Michigan; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Glenis Jackson of Avon, Christine Hafford of Monmouth, Deana Hewins of Leeds, Evelyn Ray and husband Vern of Greene; six brothers, Leland Bachelder of Phillips, Earl Bachelder and wife Janice of Friendship, Dalon Bachelder of Leeds, Tony Bachelder and wife Becky of Buckfield, Dennis Bachelder and wife Cheryl of Pembrook, Steven Bachelder and wife Lisa of Leeds; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Peter Hafford, loving companion, Brad Hatch; a son, Dale Hafford, a daughter, Cindy Hafford; two grandchildren, Jeremy Hafford and Sonya Chandler, a sister, Noreen Chamberlain and three brothers. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Interment will be in the spring at the West Leeds Cemetery, Leeds, Maine Arrangements by BRAGDON-FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 707 Main Street, Monmouth, Maine.
