LOVELL — Charlotte Hobbs Memorial Library plans to host Carol Dana, cultural historian of the Penobscot Nation, as its next speaker in the Hobbs Library Speaker Series.

The talk on Zoom is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, March 17. Dana will present “Atlohkewe: Tell Me a Story,” which will draw on a collection of 189 Penobscot stories traditionally told in the wintertime about the culture hero, Gluscabe. She will tell some of the stories and discuss their significance, according to a news release from the library.

Dana works as language resource person for the Cultural and Historic Preservation Department for the Penobscot Nation. She teaches at the Penobscot Nation Daycare Center, Boys and Girls Club, and with the elders in the community.

At the Algonquian Language Conference in 2010, she was presented with a lifetime achievement award for her dedication to the Penobscot Language.
