Residents living in new state House District 98 — Durham and Pownal, and parts of Lisbon, Topsham and Bowdoin — were recently mailed a purported piece of “journalism,” The Maine Anchor, which spreads conspiracies, misinformation, lies and “alternative facts.”

Much of the space in the mailing I received was dedicated to “disproving” facts about the efficacy regarding masks and vaccines. I was further appalled to see Guy Lebida was contributing to these conspiracies while promoting his candidacy for House District 98 in this “newspaper.”

We need representatives in Augusta who are willing to work across the aisle to find solutions that benefit all Mainers — regardless of political party. We don’t need more misinformation and attacks on elected officials, health and safety, and democracy itself.

My candidate of choice, Orion Breen, is the common sense choice for House District 98. I encourage all voters to support candidates through maine.gov/cleanelections, and I encourage residents to join me in supporting Orion Breen.

Lois Kilby-Chesley, Durham
