MECHANIC FALLS — Maine country musicians, Don Campbell, Peter Allen and Bobby Reed, will be inducted into the Maine Country Music Hall of Fame at the 45th Annual Induction Ceremony and Show at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, at the Silver Spur, 272 Lewiston St.

The ceremony and show will showcase Campbell, Allen and Reed and many other legendary Hall of Famers, all from the state of Maine.

The Hall of Fame will also introduce the winner of its first Maine Country Music Hall of Fame Guitar Competition — 17-year-old Owen Field. A talented young musician, Field is a student at Hampden Academy and has been playing guitar since he was 8 years old. He will be awarded the grand prize, a Martin Guitar, and will perform the Merle Haggard tune, “Workin’ Man’s Blues,” with the Hall of Fame house band. He studies guitar with Jeremy Shirland and won first place at the 2022 Maine All-State Jazz Guitar Competition. Field is the son of Zachary and Karyn Field of Hampden.

Don Campbell was voted Maine’s favorite songwriter for six consecutive years by the Maine Sunday Telegram. He is from the Portland area, having spent his teen years in the Old Port sitting at the feet of street musicians who became his heroes. P

eter Allen of Oxford debuted on stage at the age of 8. He formed Hurricane Mountain, one of Maine’s premier country bands. Allen and his wife, DeeDee own the Silver Spur country dance club in Mechanic Falls.

Bobby Reed of Trevett, Maine, started playing guitar at the age of 12 and formed The Wild Horse Band, performing an average of 120 shows a year all over the state.

Free tours of the museum will be held before and after the show.

Tickets are $15 and may be purchased at the door, or by calling Nancy at 207-645-2472.
