DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Lisbon United Methodist Church located at 14 School St. in Lisbon Falls will once again be holding our Annual Plant and Shrub Sale on Sat.  May 21 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

This sale, which also includes a bake sale along with the sale of Rada Cutlery, has become one of our three major fundraisers held each year. Proceeds have supported many local and worldwide organizations.

Among the many local missions supported are LACO and New Beginnings. In the fall we donated over $2,000 to The Tedford Shelter Warm Thy Neighbor Program which provides heating assistance to families in our community. With the rising cost of heating oil, this was a welcomed gift.

Other organizations and events that have benefitted from our fund-raising efforts include providing snacks and school supplies to many students in the Lisbon School System. We have recently donated to UMCOR which provides financial help to those being affected by the Ukraine crisis. We hosted a free pancake and sausage breakfast with the Easter Bunny and enjoyed feeding 35 children and their families, and we recently held a successful blood drive in conjunction with the American Red Cross.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have a free collection of about 50 record albums that have very well kept with all their jackets. There are opera records, classical, Lawrence Welk, Ed Sullivan Theater, and more collected from the 1950’s up until cassette tapes took over. These albums are free but would need to be picked up. ANSWER: What a great collection this is! If you don’t receive calls or have some albums left over, you may want to consider contacting a facility where those with memory loss are cared for. Let us know what happens!
