The 15th annual Norway Triathlon is scheduled to return to Lake Penneseewassee on Saturday, July 9, at Pennesseewassee Park.

After being held at a limited size the past two years, 2022’s triathlon is set to run at its maximum race capacity of approximately 120 individuals and teams, according to a news release from the Western Foothills Land Trust.

Sanctioned by USATriathlon, the event aims to be a perfect sprint tri for experienced athletes or first-time competitors. Individuals and teams of all ages and abilities are encouraged to compete. Tri competitors will begin with a 750-meter swim, followed by a 20K bike, and a 5K run ending back at Pennesseewassee Park. An awards ceremony and celebration will conclude the event.

The land trust is dedicated to the conservation and preservation of native ecosystems, farm and forest lands, watersheds, and scenic landscapes for the benefit of wild and human communities in western Maine. In addition the trust helps to provide experiential environmental education for youth, and expand outdoor recreation opportunities for all ages and abilities throughout Oxford County on their preserves and trails.
