David Capen

LEEDS – David Capen, 61, of Leeds, passed away May 9, 2022 as a result of complications with COVID at the Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born July 25, 1960 in Lewiston, the son of John “Sonny” Capen II and Joyce (Burns) Capen.

For many years he worked at Gates Formed Fiber Products in Auburn. In earlier years, David enjoyed hunting with his brother and dad. Throughout his life, he went fishing with friends and was an avid supporter of the Boston Red Sox (even when they weren’t winning). He enjoyed reading, especially books by Louis L’Amour.

He treasured his family, spending many beloved hours with his nieces and nephews. He loved his son, who unfortunately was taken from the family too soon. The last few years he spent with his best friend, his brother, at their home in Leeds. He was married to a woman whom he loved and adored in his own way, Tammy Capen.

He is survived by his mother, Joyce Capen; a brother, John Capen III and wife Elizabeth “Beth”; two sisters, Brenda Capen and Maureen Trainor; his wife, Tammy Capen; several nieces and nephews; and many other close family members.

David was predeceased by his father, John “Sonny” Capen II; and his son, David Capen Stearns.

Visitation will be held 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, May 17 with a service following at 2 p.m. at The Fortin Group, 217 Turner St., Auburn.
