GREENWOOD — Voters at Saturday’s annual town meeting will decide on a municipal budget that is less than last year’s.
The meeting opens at 9 a.m. at the Jackson Silver Post 68 American Legion Hall at 595 Gore Road, next door to the Town Office.
Town Manager Kimberly Sparks said the proposed $1.82 million municipal budget cuts spending 3%, or $58,000, from last year. It’s due to a smaller highway department budget and the town not putting money aside to pay off any debt.
Voters will decide whether to approve a capital improvement request for $400,000 for Greenwood Road.
Selectman Norman Milliard is expected to run for another three-year term.
Articles on town ordinances include a change to shoreland zoning, which is required by the state. Voters will also be asked to amend the Land Use and Building Code Ordinance. Some residents have asked town officials to change the side and rear setback from property lines from 20 feet to 10 feet. Changes also includes housekeeping amendments to bring the ordinance up to date with state regulations.
