DEAR SUN SPOTS: Since 1993, Knucklebusters Motor Club has held a Father’s Day Car Show/Cruise-In behind Hodgman’s Frozen Custard Stand on Route 100 in New Gloucester. This year’s is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 19. Admission is free but cash donations are accepted at the gate to benefit Safe Voices (Working to End Domestic Violence)  and the Maine Veterans Home in South Paris.

Take dad out for frozen custard and a chance to see some fine automobiles. There will be a 50/50 drawing and other giveaways throughout the day. There will also be a food truck, Truckin’ Good Food, on site. We’re sending out a special thank you to those who show their vehicles. There will be about 150 autos, motorcycles, and other hobby vehicles.

Any businesses interested in donating gift cards or other giveaways can contact Deb and Dave at 782-7895 or Jane and Allen at 524-5591. Thank you, Sun Spots, for all you do to get the word out. — Allen

ANSWER: This sounds like so much fun! Thank you for all you do to organize this event.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I so much appreciate the positive difference Sun Spots makes for so many causes, individuals and our local communities. Your column is a major highlight in our 175 years young Sun Journal.

I would like to ask readers to be sure to watch the L-A Community Little Theatre’s Fourth Annual On-Line Auction, beginning Sunday, June 5, and running daily right through Sunday, June 19. The auction is a symbol of the theatre’s resilience and determination to find ways to recover from the challenges we all have faced during the pandemic.

We are so fortunate to have so many wonderfully talented citizens in our greater L-A area, who through weeks and weeks of rehearsals bring several outstanding productions each year. We continue to “play it safe” for our audiences with limited seating.

To make up for our substantial revenue losses, we ask everyone to take a look at the very special, varied and quality auction items, including gift certificates for several golf courses, restaurants, florists, and a Patriots-Bills football game, as well as the very special Stephen King autographed novel, “Revival.”

Every bid will help keep CLT stronger than ever in its 82nd year as a shining light for the arts. Don’t miss the latest CLT production, “You Can’t Take It with You,” playing June 16-19 and June 20-23.

By the way, when someone wins one of the great auction items, “You can take it with you!” Thanks again to Sun Spots. We’re all so lucky to have you there for us! — Bob, no town

ANSWER: Thank you for the lovely letter! I’m looking forward to this fundraiser that supports the arts and want to thank all the businesses that are participating. The people working behind the scenes have struggled during these tough couple of years, yet here we are on the other side, regrouping and getting back into the swing of things.
