LEWISTON – Frederick C. Woodcock III, 81, a lifelong resident of Lewiston, Maine, passed away peacefully at Central Maine Medical Center with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, June 1, 2022.
Fred was born in Lewiston, on July 28, 1940 to Elinor Kimball and Frederick C. Woodcock Jr. Fred graduated from Lewiston High School in 1960 and enlisted in the Merchant Marines. He married Anita C.I. Maheux at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul on February 9, 1963. Together they raised two sons.
Fred was employed as a union contractor and worked for several companies throughout Maine. He was later employed by H.B. Fleming, Inc. where he worked as a superintendent for 35 years. Prior to his retirement, he returned to the union and worked as a carpenter and millwright. Fred was a dedicated hard worker and instilled many wonderful values in his family. His optimistic and cheery disposition was enjoyed by all who knew him.
As an avid outdoorsman, Fred particularly enjoyed fishing and hunting with his two sons when they were young. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, riding his motorcycle, and spending time at the family camp. During his retirement, he enjoyed life to the fullest and treasured the time he spent with his family and friends. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will remain in our hearts forever.
Fred is survived by his two sons, Frederick “Bud” Woodcock IV and wife Kelly of Wales, Scott Woodcock and wife Lana of Portsmouth, NH; three granddaughters, Ashley Anderson and husband Zach of Durham, Emily Woodcock and fiancé Tyler Parent of Sabattus, and Nastasya Woodcock of Portsmouth, NH; a great-grandson, Tanner Anderson; and a sister-in-law, Judy Woodcock of Tyler, Texas. Fred was predeceased by his parents; his wife of 42 years; and his brother, George “Bill” W. Woodcock.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 9, from 9 -11 am at The Fortin Group Funeral Home, 70 Horton Street, Lewiston. A Catholic prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. immediately following visitation. Committal prayers to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Lewiston.
