Ronald Everett Freeman

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Ronald Everett Freeman, 86, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Mechanic Falls, Maine, passed away Jan. 20, 2022, at St. Rose Dominican Sienna hospital in Henderson, Nev. He was born Jan. 17, 1936, in Gardiner, the son of Everett W. Freeman and Nellie L. Smith. They resided in Sherman Mills before he left home at the age of 18 to join the United States Airforce, where he received his GED.

While stationed at Harlingen AFB, Texas, he met the love of his life, Cora S. Padgett. They were married Sept. 2, 1958. They were stationed at many bases and raised four children. He retired as a MSGT on June 30, 1976, after 22 years of services.

They moved to Mechanic Falls where Ronnie took over the running of his father’s garage (after his father’s passing). He ran Freemans’s Garage and went to CMTC to receive his Associates Degree in Automotive Mechanics. He ran Freeman’s Garage for about 20 years and made many friends.

Ronnie is survived by his wife of 63 years, Cora S. Freeman; their four children and their spouses, Rhonda S. Freeman Maher and Thom of Norway, Ronald E. Freeman Jr. and Cathy of Las Vegas, Kevin W. Freeman and Leona of Mechanic Falls, and Jeffrey A. Freeman and Samantha of Otisfield; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sister Evelyn J. Robinson of Houlton, stepbrother Aubrey Holye of Hampden, and stepsister Linda Holye Maher of Poland. He is predeceased by his parents, stepmother Pauline; and brother Dwight Thomas Freeman.

Ronnie loved his family dearly and was very proud of all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on June 11, 2022, at 1 p.m. Freeman’s Cemetery, Clifford St. Mechanic Falls, with full military honors. A celebration of his life will follow in the American Legions Hall at 41 Elm St. Mechanic Falls, Maine 04256.
