A pessimistic professor of nihilism develops a medical condition with a side effect that turns her into a happy, hopeful, believer in love. But what if curing her condition will return her to misery? This wise and quirky comedy asks: Is happiness a choice or a pre-existing condition? “Be Here Now,” by Deborah Zoe Laufer, will be staged and recorded at The Pubic Theatre in Lewiston. Show times are 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 18, 23, 24 and 25; 2 p.m. on June 19 and 26; and 3 p.m. on June 25. The play features a professional cast of favorite familiar faces to Public Theatre audiences. The Public Theatre will be offering a Video-On-Demand option for “Be Here Now” that will be recorded in front of a live audience and can be watched from home beginning on June 21.
