Members of the Peru Fire Department and others honor newly-retired Fire Chief William Hussey, front row, third from left, outside the Town Office on Monday evening. About 100 people, including area fire chiefs, attended the reception for Hussey, who had served as chief for this community since 1987. The Peru Fireman’s Association presented the fire axe plaque to Hussey, which reads, “In appreciation for your dedicated service to the Peru Fire Department, the Peru Fireman’s Association and the citizens you selflessly served.” Bruce Farrin/Rumford Falls Times
